Important Safety Notice

This target is designed to be cut only from properly rated AR500 steel plate of appropriate thickness for the firearm, ammunition, and shooting distance being used. AR500 steel is the commonly accepted material for firearm-rated steel targets because of its hardness and resistance to deformation.

Do not cut this target from mild steel, thin sheet metal, unknown scrap steel, or any non-rated material. Improper material can crater, bend, fragment, or create dangerous ricochet and splash-back hazards.

The buyer is responsible for verifying proper material grade, material thickness, caliber compatibility, ammunition type, target angle, shooting distance, and safe range setup before use. Always follow firearm safety rules, range rules, and accepted steel target safety practices.

Classroom Uses

This project is best suited for advanced welding, ag mechanics, or metal fabrication students under instructor supervision. It can be used to discuss CNC cutting, AR-rated steel selection, fit-up, welding, finishing, and the importance of matching material to the intended use.

Skills Practiced
