Ag Mech Made Simple

Experience:
I am a Texas Based Agricultural Mechanics Teacher. I have taught ag mech for the last 5 years and have had success with building projects for shows, training teams for FFA competitions, students earning industry based certifications, and building great young men and women. I hope that this store helps early career ag mech teachers and veterans alike.

Teaching style:
I like to teach with proactive style of setting the students up with the tools they need to be successful but then being more hands off to let them fail and learn as they go. Students don't truly listen to your advice in the shop until they have failed enough to realize they need to ask for help. Once you hit that point, they buy in.

Awards & shining teacher moments:
In my tenure as an Agricultural Mechanics Teacher, I have forged partnerships with community members and businesses that lead to greater success in the classroom and shop. Some of the accomplishments I have achieved are bringing $15k extra, in the last year, into my shop to provide my students with modern technology and equipment. I have also trained multiple state bound LDE/CDE teams with my Applied Agricultural Engineering team placing 3rd in the state. I've also more recently been named a Top 50 finalist in the Harbor Freight Tools for Schools Teaching Excellence award.

My own education history:
I learned most of my basic skills on the job growing up performing maintenance on my family's rental properties, and automotive mechanic shops my dad and I worked at. I have 14 years of experience working on cars prior to teaching and about the same with basic plumbing, electrical and home maintenance. I attended Sam Houston State University to earn a degree in Interdisciplinary Agriculture, focusing on Agricultural Mechanics.
